Peters
With over three decades of experience in the mental health and addiction treatment space, Martin Peters brings a rare blend of clinical expertise and operational leadership to Samarpan. A Registered Nurse and Certified Substance Abuse Therapist, Martin’s journey began in 1991 and has since spanned continents, treatment models, and pioneering recovery programs.
His credentials include advanced certifications in Relapse Prevention and Addiction Counselling, and deep training in evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), and Relapse Prevention Therapy (RPT).
Martin has successfully opened or restructured six inpatient residential programs across Asia; and led the largest private rehab provider in Southeast Asia until 2020. He is rightly viewed as one of the pioneers of destination rehab in Thailand. Martin has been instrumental in shaping Samarpan’s clinical, organisation and operational approaches, and leading international accreditation efforts, including our CARF and GORSKI–CENAPS credentials.
Martin has collaborated and consulted with The Thai MOPH, involved in the creation of a scholarship program for Masters Students in Addiction Studies, introduced electronic medical records systems, fostered hospital partnerships, and has lectured at a number of Universities in Asia as well as presenting at international conferences in UK, USA, India and Thailand and being part of the current ICQ Treatment Providers Advisory Committee.
Martin joined Samarpan in 2021 to lead the launch of our flagship inpatient facility in Pune, developing its residential clinical model and overseeing daily operations. In 2024, he was appointed Chief Operations Officer, bringing his global vision and ground-level experience to unify our residential and outpatient services with excellence, compassion, and client-centered care.
