International Clients

Considering Treatment in India

Families come to Samarpan from India and around the world in search of structured, specialist treatment for addiction and related conditions.

Choosing residential treatment in another country is a significant decision. Alongside the quality of clinical care, families need to consider travel, assessment, admission, communication and how they will remain involved throughout treatment. This page explains what international clients and their families can expect when considering Samarpan.

Why Consider Samarpan?

International Standards. Specialist Addiction Treatment.

Samarpan's Residential Substance Use Disorders and Addictions (Adult) programme holds a three-year accreditation from CARF International. Samarpan is also recognised as a Gorski-CENAPS® Centre of Excellence, reflecting its implementation of the Gorski-CENAPS approach to recovery and relapse prevention.

For families considering treatment outside their home country, these external standards provide an additional point of reference when evaluating the quality, structure and governance of the programme.

Distance remains an important consideration. Our role is to help you understand both the treatment and the practicalities involved so that you can make an informed decision about whether Samarpan is appropriate for your family member.

Start the Conversation

Your first conversation can take place from wherever you are. You can contact Samarpan by telephone, WhatsApp or video call before making any travel arrangements. There is no requirement to travel to India simply to begin the assessment and admissions process.

ASSESS

Pre-Admission Assessment

Before admission, the clinical team conducts a pre-admission assessment, usually remotely by telephone or video call. This helps us understand the individual's current circumstances, treatment history, medical and psychiatric considerations and clinical needs. It also allows us to consider whether Samarpan represents an appropriate level and setting of care before international travel is arranged.

ARRIVE

Travel and Admission

For international clients, Samarpan can arrange complimentary airport transfers from Mumbai or Pune airports. Transfers from or to other locations may be arranged at an additional cost. We ask individuals and families to confirm airport transfer requirements with the admissions team at least 48 hours in advance.

Following arrival, the client enters Samarpan's admission and assessment process, with psychiatric, medical and safety considerations reviewed as clinically appropriate.

Family Involvement Is Part of the Treatment Process

International treatment does not mean families are excluded from the recovery process. With the client's consent, and where clinically appropriate, family involvement can form part of the treatment plan throughout the programme.

This may include family communication, therapeutic family sessions, psychoeducation and preparation for the client's transition home. The aim is not simply to keep families informed, but to help them understand the recovery process and consider how they can support healthier patterns after treatment.

Starting Treatment from Abroad

You Do Not Need to Arrange Travel First

The first step is a conversation, not a flight booking. Contact our admissions team and tell us what has been happening. We can discuss your or your family member's circumstances, explain the assessment and treatment process, and help you understand whether Samarpan may be an appropriate option. Travel arrangements should follow clinical and admissions discussions rather than precede them.

Whenever You're Ready To Talk

Wherever you are in the world, the objective remains the same: to provide meaningful, structured treatment that addresses the person and the underlying factors contributing to addiction — not simply a period of containment away from home. Talk to us about what is happening, what has already been tried and what your family needs from treatment. We will help you understand what the next step could look like.
